What are dermal fillers?
Dermal filler is a gel-like substance injected beneath the skin to restore volume, enhance contours, and soften unwanted shadowing. Most fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), which occurs naturally in the body and helps keep skin plump and hydrated. Because HA fillers are dissolvable with an enzyme called hyaluronidase (Hylenex), they offer flexibility and safety.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Results vary by individual. Each person’s response to treatment is unique, and outcomes may differ from one person to another. Dermal filler typically lasts anywhere from 9 to 18 months.
Some swelling, tenderness, and bruising are normal following treatment. These effects generally resolve on their own and may last from one to two weeks. For this reason, it’s best not to schedule your treatment within two weeks of any important events.
