What is Kybella?
Kybella is an injectable that permanently reduces fat under the chin (“double chin”). It contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that breaks down fat cells — once those cells are gone, they’re gone for good.
This treatment is customized for each individual but a series of three sessions is typically recommended for complete treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Most patients need treatments 6-8 weeks apart for best results. During the procedure, small injections are placed under the chin; you may feel warmth or mild swelling afterward, which typically resolves within one to two weeks. For this reason, it’s best not to schedule your treatment within two weeks of any important events. As fat cells are eliminated, the area becomes more sculpted and refined over time, with results that last indefinitely once the series is complete.
Downtime & Results:
Common reactions to Kybella include swelling, bruising, tenderness, numbness, and redness in the treated area, which can last from 2 to 4 weeks. Kybella begins working immediately, but due to swelling, it may take 4-6 weeks to see improvement. Typically, 2-4 treatments are needed for full results.
